Civil and Structural Engineering Mechanics Lecture
This is definitely one of the most important modules during this year. It teaches us all about structural analysis, including understanding what forces are acting on the structures (such as bridges and buildings) and how they affect the specific beams. You have to know what your weakest point in the structure is and how and where it is likely to fail to prevent catastrophe. We gain a good understanding on why buildings stand up and why they fall down. The module teaches crucial numerical skills needed to analyse structures but there is also a huge emphasis on engineering judgement – which means logical thinking skills based on your engineering knowledge rather than just numbers!
